The Talwani File

On August 11, 2026, Judge Indira Talwani of the District of Massachusetts enjoined the United States Postal Service from carrying out Section 3 of President Trump’s March 31 mail-ballot order — Executive Order 14399, “Ensuring Citizenship Verification and Integrity in Federal Elections” — for the November midterms. A preliminary injunction is a temporary court order. It is not a final judgment, and it is not a Supreme Court holding. Thirteen days later the Supreme Court stayed her earlier, related injunction in the states’ case. The League paper is a separate order.
